Progress in research on composite alkali metal borate functional crystals
The borate system has long been a research hotspot of inorganic ultraviolet nonlinear optical crystal materials, because the boron-oxygen functional elements represented by the BO3 and BO4 groups have a large band gap and a small two-photon absorption probability; the laser damage threshold is relatively high High; conducive to obtain a strong nonlinear optical effect; BO bond is conducive to light transmission in a wide band. The bond of the BO bond in the borate crystal is very strong, and the electrons bound to the bond are not easy to transition, so that the boron oxide anion group has little absorption of ultraviolet light (including part of deep ultraviolet light). At the same time, when the cations in the borate are alkali metals and alkaline earth metals, the cut-off wavelength in the short-wave region may be shorter than 200 nm.
Under the guidance of the design idea of ​​introducing alkali metal cation groups into the boron-oxygen framework to improve its performance, researcher Pan Shilie, a key experimenter of the Electronic Information Materials and Devices Autonomous Region of Xinjiang Institute of Physics and Chemistry Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and his team of photoelectric functional crystal materials In the field, a long-term systematic research work has been carried out on the composite alkali metal borate ternary system. Li3Cs2B5O10 crystals have been designed and synthesized through composite alkali metal cation groups and boron oxide groups. Studies have shown that the UV diffuse reflection cut-off edge of the crystal reaches 175nm, which can achieve phase matching, and is a fused crystal of the same composition, and is a UV nonlinear optical crystal with application potential.
