Whether you're a beginner or an experienced sewer, this project is simple and rewarding.

Doll Pillowcase Pattern, Instructions
In this tutorial, you'll learn how to make two versions of a doll pillowcase: one simple and one with a tailored border. Both styles are quick to sew and can be made as a matching set. The process is straightforward—finish the edges, sew the pieces together, and turn them right side out. It’s a great way to add some charm to your doll’s bed setup.
Both pillows are made in a similar way—sewing the rectangles together, finishing the ends, and turning them right side out. This is a perfect beginner project that requires minimal time and effort but delivers a beautiful result.

How to Make a Doll Pillowcase, Step by Step
We’ll start with a basic, no-fuss doll pillowcase that looks just like a real one. It features a flap at the top for a realistic touch.

To create the plain version, cut two pieces of fabric:
- FRONT – 11 ¼ inches (28.5 cm) x 7 inches (17.8 cm)
- BACK – 13 ¼ inches (33.5 cm) x 7 inches (17.8 cm)
On the wrong side of both pieces, fold over one of the short edges twice—first by ¼ inch (6 mm), then again by ¼ inch (6 mm) to create a narrow hem. Stitch across the hem.

Place the front and back pieces together with the right sides facing each other, aligning the unhemmed edges. Then, fold the hemmed edge of the back over the front.

Sew along the sides and bottom with a ¼ inch (6 mm) seam. Finish the edges with a zigzag stitch or use a serger to prevent fraying. Don't forget to clip the corners for a cleaner look.

Turn the pillowcase to the right side and give it a good press. Now it’s ready to put your doll pillow insert inside. It’s a cute addition to any doll’s bedroom!

Tailored Doll Pillowcase Pattern
This version features a decorative border on one end, perfect for adding lace, trim, or any embellishment you love. It adds a little extra flair to your doll’s bedding.

To make the bordered version, cut three pieces of fabric:
- FRONT – 9 ½ inches (24 cm) x 7 inches (17.8 cm)
- BORDER – 4 ½ inches (11.4 cm) x 7 inches (17.8 cm)
- BACK – 13 ¾ inches (35 cm) x 7 inches (17.8 cm)
Fold the border piece in half width-wise, with the wrong sides together, and press it flat. Then, with the right sides together, sew the border to the front piece along one edge. Finish the seam and press it open.

Once the border is attached, you can add lace or trim along the seam for a more elegant look. On the back piece, press one of the short edges over twice to form a hem, then stitch it in place.

Place the front and back pieces together with the right sides facing each other, aligning the unhemmed edges. Fold the hemmed end of the back over the front border and sew around the sides and bottom with a ¼ inch (6 mm) seam.

Finish the edges with a zigzag stitch or use a serger to prevent fraying. Clip the corners for a neater finish. Turn the pillowcase to the right side and press it once more.

You now have two beautifully finished doll pillowcases, ready to be used in your doll’s bedroom. They're not only functional but also add a nice touch of style and personality.
