These standards use a simple 4- to 8-digit code to represent different box types, with each number indicating a specific structure. Additionally, modifications made by manufacturers are denoted by suffix codes, allowing for flexibility while maintaining consistency. For example, the widely used Type 02 carton, also known as a slotted carton, is made from a single sheet of cardboard and features upper and lower flaps that close the box. These flaps are typically fastened using staples, adhesives, or tapes, with joint lengths varying depending on the board thickness—usually between 25 mm and 45 mm. Some Type 02 boxes also include a bottom insert to prevent leakage, and they are often shipped flat for easy storage and assembly.
In China, the national standard GB/T 6543-2008 "Single and Double Corrugated Fiberboard Boxes for Transport Packaging" has been established, referencing international guidelines. This standard outlines the basic structures for single and double corrugated fiberboard boxes used in transport packaging, ensuring consistency and quality across the industry.
