British developed new plastic packaging

Recently, the British Hutama-ki company successfully developed a new type of plastic packaging, which has both passive and active barrier functions, effectively inhibits the infiltration of oxygen, and even after the food bag packaging is cooked, the effect will not be weakened.
This new type of plastic packaging, known as "the sum of the barriers," can not only extend the shelf life of the product, but it can also be directly heated by microwave ovens. It is particularly suitable for the packaging of convenience foods, and solves the problem of oxygen penetration caused by ordinary plastic packaging, and the storage of products. After a period of time, there is a problem of loss of flavor and color. The packaging material is composed of 6 layers of different materials. The first layer and the last layer are polypropylene. The second and fourth layers are adhesive glues. The oxygen barrier polymer material is EVOH (ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer). It is called a passive barrier, and the fifth layer is an oxygen scavenger mixture called an active barrier that not only blocks the ingress of foreign oxygen molecules, but also absorbs oxygen inside the package. Oxygen scavengers can retain their activity even in the presence of moisture, thus extending the product's shelf life.
