The freezing point of the thinner is minus 116 Â° C, the boiling point is 34.6 Â° C, the flash point is minus 45 Â° C, and the explosion limit is 1.85 ~ 36.5%. The thinner material is extremely volatile, and the oil and gas volatilized in a short time can spread to several meters or even several meters. If it encounters fire, it can catch fire. When the oil and gas catch fire, the flame will ignite in the opposite direction of the airflow, causing a violent large-area burning. If oil and gas are mixed with air in a relatively rigid room or in a ship and ship, it can cause a strong explosion and cause heavy losses.

Another characteristic of thinner materials is that they are more insulating and easily generate static electricity. If the plastic material is packed in a plastic drum and shaken repeatedly, static electricity can be generated up to 15,000 volts inside. Once discharged, it can cause a fire. Unfairly, the thinner has a softening effect on the plastic. If the thinner is used for too long, the plastic will soften and break the leak and leak out the thinner, so the possibility of fire is even greater.

Since the thinner is a flammable and explosive dangerous goods, the concentration of oil and gas in the air should be strictly controlled in the place where the thinner is used, and should not exceed 0.3 mg/liter. Once the oil and gas exceeds the standard, measures should be taken to strengthen the ventilation and reduce the concentration so that it does not reach the explosive concentration limit. When transporting thinner materials, they should not be savagely loaded and unloaded, and should be lightly loaded and unloaded to prevent friction and shock. When transporting by car, the metal chain should be grounded at the tail of the tank to remove the electrostatic charge and prevent fire. In the place where the thinner is used or stored, there shall be no fire source, and the installed electrical equipment must be fireproof and explosion proof. Do not use plastic drums to hold thinner materials and apply metal containers. Pipes for conveying thinner materials should not be made of plastic pipes, and metal pipes must have good grounding measures. When cleaning the coating tool with a thinner, care should be taken to prevent static electricity from being generated by friction and causing a fire.

In the transport vehicles, storage warehouses, and places of use, adequate fire-fighting equipment, such as dry powder, carbon dioxide, halogenated alkane fire extinguishers, etc., should be provided. A thin material fire occurs, and it cannot be saved with water. It can only be saved with chemical fire extinguishing agents. When the fire extinguishing agent is not enough, it can also be saved with sand.
